Engine size alone is too variable, I'd compare on performance. The 2.0 Z4 list price was a lot less than the S2000 list price so you can't really compare on price either. I think, IIRC, the S2000 list price was somewhere just above the 2.5 at around £28k. Largely irrelevant now as neither can be bought new anymore!
Both 3.0 and S2000 have similar performance but do it in different ways.
I also wouldn't compare the previous shape 2.5 boxster with the s2000, the later 2.7 or previous "S" models I would, despite their higher price differential.
I know how great the engine is, I'm on my 2nd S2000. I really wished they'd evolved with and gone for a 2.5 or 3.0 with even more power, that'd been great. 3.0 VTEC with 300+ bhp, yum

The S2000 seems to be its last gem (also the NSX)
