GEARS STIFF

i have just put another 2nd hand gearbox in my honda integra (S80) which has done 80k. it was empty with no oil & was sitting for about a year.
now its in the car it drives smooth apart from the gears which are going in very stiff, especially the 4th gear. will this free up eventually or is the box no good ? may be i need some better gearbox oil (gear oil yellow in colour)
any thoughts will be a great help '

try some honda/land rover mtf 94.
never had a stiff box, are the shafts in properly?
clutch aligned??

Clutch and alignment would be my first thoughts. Might be worth checking the linkage itself hasn't seized-up in the cold weather (esp if standing for a year), before taking things apart again...
