S2000 Car Tax

Hi,

I've got a 2009 MY S2000 and have just been sent my car tax reminder.........£405!!! for the year. Is that a mis print?!!!!! I know its now done on emissions but that is mad. They have put down 236g/km..... The mad thing is that my previous car was a Noble and the tax was only £180 per year. I'm sure that thing used to spit neat fuel out of the exhausts. S2000 must be an eco warrior compared with that. Anybody else had this or is this just another case of government day light robbery?...

I have a 6 litre CJ7 Jeep,£180 tax
6 Litre diesel 5 tonne Unimog £0 tax
I also have a Year 2000 S2000 which is not emissions rated for road tax!

1st May 2009+
226 - 255 g/km = £405
255 g/km + = £405

I'm not reeeeally sure why they didn't say 226+, but it's not easy saving the planet so I'll let that one slide.

If it's any consolation, I'll have probably gone up next time you come to tax it.

Seems crazy to me to charge that amount for road tax......but that is the UK for you!!! Just have to get my money's worth abit more now by eating up a little more tarmac.

Shouldn't be news - it was all over the press 3 years ago, until the Gov't 'relented' on the retrospective bit and just applied it to cars post March-06.

Look at it this way - compared to depreciation and fuel, the extra £200 VED is small change.

I was happy to find they'd delayed raising the tax on my s2000 this yeat (2001) so it was "only" £215 ish

Just re-taxed my W reg S2000. A whole £190 for the year!

I have a '08 S2000 and i pay £405 or whatever it has risen to this year!

I have an 09 S ,road tax at £405 is another example of being robbed by this useless government . However I dont care , this car is worth every penny .

When I went "backwards" to my 05 car the tax was one of the considerations.
£215 for 400 BHP
