Civic with B18C wont spark

Hi all,
I have browsed pistonheads before but never joined, now i am on the creep to the honda fans/mechanics on this site.
We have an R reg EK Civic in our workshop that was broaght in with a non starting fault, we have no spark! We have changed the distributor to no avail but as we have no experiance on these and due to the engine conversion we are a bit lost, my thinking is that the immobiliser is cutting in but the green key goes out on the dash before cranking so i am led to believe that is not the problem. Also i cannot get the ecu to send up any trouble codes(bridged the terminals under the dash but the eml light stays on solid).
The wiring is absolutely all over the place due to the conversion and it looks like some wires have burnt out, i am trying to find a specialst in the hants/surrey/berkshire area i can recommend to the owner or someone who can maybe provide us with a little assistance as i have tried a couple of auto electricians who dont seem too interested.
Any help would be much appreciated even if its just a recommendation of who can help.
PS the owner has not long owned the vehicle and knows nothing about the history of the mods, it was me that discovered that it is a B18C engine.
