Disconnecting UKDM DC2 Battery: Problems?

Hi All
My UKDM DC2 is off the road now for the Winter, while I do a few things such as refurbing the wheels etc. I was planning on disconnecting the battery while it's off the road, to help it preserve charge (as I don't have a trickle charger and the garage doesn't have a power supply...
Apologies if this is a bit of a simple question, but am I ok to do this for several months or do I need to keep the battery connected? Not sure if it'll do anything besides reset the Engine Management System?
