I've found myself pondering for some reason lately the merits of the 'purer' Type-R Hondas - now I'm quite happy with my current automotive combination (Legacy GTB + Mk1 MX5) and not really planning to swap anytime soon, but hypothetically if one was tossing up between a DC2 Integra and an EK9 Civic as a toy for road use, track days, potentially competition etc...

Prices are similar between the two here but its easier to find an tidy unmolested EK9 and they're generally younger than a straight DC2 for the same money.

Which would you go for and why? Is there much difference in handling balance, steering feel and so on or are they quite similar? How easy is it to make them sound as good as the ones on youtube? hehe

Some drive that was!

DC2s are great fun, never been in a EK9. Try and get hold of the Best Motoring Type R legend for more info.

The DC2 is fantastic but I think id prefer a B18 powered EK9. Not sure why but the Ek9 just does something for me. I had a Dc2 for two years and would take one now in an instant though.

driven both as standard but i personally find EK9 more fun & touch better handling around short corners.
which ones quicker i cant say'?
depends on the driver or mods done to the car & who got the stronger vtec pull

Didn't realise from your first post you'd driven both, maybe I'll try and find one to take for a spin at some stage.

I have an EK9 and my brother has just got a DC2 96 spec, my brother's car pulls better with having the extra touque from the B18 but saying that his is a light weight version too with a 4.7 final drive and lightened flywheel I would imagine in a straight line my brother's car would have the edge. if i had the money I would love to stroke my B16 to a b18. If you ever see any of the best motoring video's there isn't very much between them at all.

EK9.thumbup
I imported a mint black one last year.
rarer than the teg, and I prefer the look.
They are both similar in performance, you have to rag them to get anywhere.

Not much between them on track.... (in standard trim).

I'd go for the Civic, being newer and rarer for the same money.....

Max speed for an Integra 124MPH??
I dont think so. The track times are good, theres nothing in it.

Track times are largely the same indeed, but on the road the Civic does feel a little gutless next to the DC2 imo. That said, I think the B16 revs better and sounds better, and I do prefer the looks of the EK9. Just get the one you like best wink
