This is my 4th back box which i have done 2000miles & as the baffler inside has opened up it is slowing my performance down. when driving cold 1st 20mins its ok. when warmed up it dont want to move when throttled. i can hear the air gases are not fully being released which slowing me down. i know if i put another back box on the car it will be ok but not for long.
would anyone know whats the cause for this or do i need to upgrade to a better exhaust system ?
currently running a janspeed 4-1 branch outlet
straight through 2.5" d-cat pipe
japcan back box 4"

well the first post is utter gibberish, so its very difficult to know if I or 300bhp/ton knows. You say your baffels are 'opening up' that would normally suggest more air flow not less..... rolleyes

CB3, seriously though. I can't guarantee I can help, but I'm fairly sure I could give you some insight, but even having read your post 3 times I still don't understand it.

Post up your question again and I'll see what I can do smile

Sounds like a cheap back box is collapsing, strangling his motor. Simple answer would be to try a different back box, or put it back to standard so you know its right wink

Or heat-soak from a poorly-positioned / unshielded intake?

lol pardon me for not explaining correctly.
baffel opening up meaning 'more air' as gingerwizard says.
as this happens the 'more air' is not releasing through out the back box creating exhaust back pressure which is slowing the cars performance.
im assuming i need a better quality back box.

If your baffles are coming feree and restricting airflow, then a new good quality backbox should sort this.

To be honest... it seems you have answered your inconprehensible question your self. Have you read through slowly you post above ^ . Despite having some idea at what your barkin on about, it still makes NO SENSE. It sounds like you have a pretty bodged exhaust set up. Best take it to some one in the know and explain, or get it on a RR.....

O good. It's not just me then.

After nearly a decade of pissing about with Honda engines, trying to extract everything i can out of them and understanding that there is a case for maintaining back pressure on an NA car - I still don't have a fking clue what the OP is talking about.

All I can offer is - the bottle neck of an exhaust system is not necessarily just the backbox.

Don't confuse back pressure with scavenging gases. Backpressure is not goo NA or FI.

Spot on.

It is possible to measure the amount of back pressure in various points in the system if the OP wants to establish some firm data rather than guessing.
