Hi all. I've just bought my Mum a Honda Civic from a guy I work with. It's a 1998 1.4 with 37,000 genuine miles on the clock. My question is, does this car have a timing belt or a chain, and if it's a belt, when is it due to be changed?? Are the water pumps better to be changed along with the timing belt, if it is a belt of course?? Thanks in advance.

It's a belt, I don't know the exact interval but I think most Hondas were 5 years /60k.

if your going to do the timing belt, you might as well do the waterpump as well. If the waterpump goes, it can take your cambelt with it = not good!

will be an extra £80ish on top at a garage.
