Have type r prices increased of late??

It seems that around 6k can get you a reasonable pre facelift model.

But there are a lot more cars that are better to drive, faster and equally costly to buy and run.

They just don't seem like good value at the moment. And similar spec/condition cars were about a grand cheaper not so long ago.

frown

ETA on second thoughts, most other mainstream used cars have inflated prices of late.

I'm not so sure - prices collapsed across the board 12 months ago, and this year the scrappage scheme and the general economic malaise have meant a major shortage of good 2nd hand cars, so prices have firmed-up back to where they should have been, maybe slightly higher.

As for the CTR - don't forget the likely extra reliability over e.g. a 182/225 or a VXR/ST - some people WILL pay more for the lower risk of bills!

That would be the sometimes overstated reliability. I enjoyed mine but it wasn't that reliable (fabled dealer service was awful as well). The only other owner I met actually had much worse experiences.
To be fair it isn't a massive sample but along with what I've read on the interweb, I suspect it's a bit oversold at times.

On the other hand, the ST as been as much above expectations as the Honda was below. Running costs are lower as well, so it isn't that simple. Still miss elements of the Honda immensely though!

i bought mine 10 months ago, and its still worth more then what i paid. that was from a dealer... i sometimes have a look on the classifieds to see what the score is and it keeps making me smile.....

I think the increase in price is due to Honda's track record of being super reliable. Also people forget to quickly that at the time of launch in 01' and the subsequent face lift in 04' the CTR was regarded by Tiff Needel, Top Gear crew, Evo, as being the best Hot hatch. It won car of the year and was heaped with praise in 04' by large sectors of the auto world.

My Teg also was going up in value from the beginning of the year.

They are cheap to run, reliable and fun so what is there not to like? The thing with the Integras is that finding good ones in Japan is becoming harder from what I have heard from a couple of importers. Plenty of Dogs so you have to be careful.

Having not driven and FD2 and only hearing what other people have said could it be that the FD2 being a bit of a disappointment in some peoples eyes is making those who are after a good drivers car and not just a Type R badge for posing (as weird as it sounds) are going back to the EP3?
