I'm assuming it's this was in a Prelude? If so, did the 4WS light come on the dashboard before/after the problem? Is it still on?
Very unusal for it to lock to one side though, as there are two very large and strong springs which hold the rear wheels straight all the time. The motor to steer the rear wheels has to act against these springs to turn the wheels. Any problems with the system and the motor shuts down and the wheels are locked forward.
The only thing I can think of that might have locked it is some kind of debris blocking the return to centre again.
Is it all ok now though?

Had a similiar problem 6years ago on a 1992 accord coupe 2.2 4ws uk spec.
Because the baby was slammed to the floor on 15's, I had damaged the rear steering rack & arms when going down a ditch on a road which came out the blue & shagged the 4ws system!
It could not be steered correctly when driving & had to be replaced.
Luckily i got a 2nd hand rack off a prelude & straight fit on apart from the track rod ends which were smaller into the hub so the accord ones i used.
