CTR Aircon

Hi am new to the honda camp, and have what might seem a like a daft question
I recently bought a late 2001 type r with aircon, unfortunatly it didnt work but the seller reconned it just needed gassed!!
Anuyway I took the car to kwikfit for a re-gas on my return I was told that they had tried twice but could not get the aircon to work so there would be no charge?
I left but as soon as I started to move the aircon changed from being warm air to icey cold?
Is this the norm on the ctr or do I have a fault?

do both the rad fans run when you turn the a.c on?

when you pulled away it could of been the air being pushed over the condenser/radiator due to you moving, letting the refrigerant condense.
