Hi folks

Hope someone can shine a light on the symptoms I've got with my clutch. I don't know whether it's a problem or not

The car has done around 48K miles. The clutch does not slip and I've always blipped the throttle on down shifts to match engine and transmission revs and hopefully avoid wear. I avoid fast take offs and associated clutch-slipping

The main symptom is that the clutch pedal needs to go right down to the floor to disengage the clutch and bites around 5mm from the floor.

It doesn't bother me and to be honest I actually prefer it like this but worry that it might get worse and mean I can't get the clutch to disengage at all soon.

What could the problem be if it is a problem? Is the travel likely to increase or decrease with more clutch wear?

Many thanks in advance for any help and sorry for repeating this thread in the tech section but would like max exposure

Alex

It's possible that one of the spring levers has broken on the clutch friction plate. This has happened twice in my Integra. The main symptom is that it will become difficult to engage a gear at all. Solution is new clutch.

I just had mine replaced. It cost £400 including labour at TGM Sport.

Thanks again, I had enquired at a couple of places and heard horrific quotes of 800 quid plus VAT....plus labour. Do you have contact details for TGM?

TGM Sport (Tom Gannon), Sankey Lane, Cove Road, Fleet, Hampshire. 01252 811972.

They had a website, but it appears to have died.

First things first, check your fluid level, it may be you have a small leak and loss of fluid will cause this. This happened on my old DC2 when the seals on the slave cylinder went.

Thanks. How do I find/check it?

On my DC5 its the smaller reservoir towards the drivers side bulkhead, (the bigger ones brake fluid), don't think its any differant on the EP3. If theres little or no fluid in then i'd say thats your culprit.

I'll have a closer look but I think there was only one reservoir under the bonnet and that was up to the line.

First step is to bleed the clutch, there might be moisture in the line.

Second step, then is to replace the clutch and pressure plate; the pressure plate goes weak and causes this problem, do you also notice its a bit awkward to shift at 8400rpm?

I'll try the clutch bleeding, I've actually repeated this thread on another section and someone else mentioned this but I have no idea how to go about it. I was hoping there would be an on-line Haynes manual type thing

No problems shifting at high revs, in fact, it seems to be slicker the faster the engine revs which I find curious

Thanks for all the help so far folks

Main dealer just done mine (2-3 weeks ago) for £502 quid fitted oem item.

Did ring TGM in Fleet for a quote, and they quoted me £470 for oem item fitted over the phone.
