Hi all. I've just bought a 1999 S2000 to replace my troublesome TVR. Having owned a Nissan 200 for over 7 trouble free years it was time to go back to Jap crap. However, due to lack of funds, I have bought a 10year old model, which needs a little attention. The rear window is split and needs replacing. Can it be replaced directly with the later glass version or does it need to be plastic again?
Cheers.

Don't know the exact answer myself regarding the roof, but get yourself enrolled on www.s2ki.co.uk to find everything you'll ever need to know about the S. The search on there is very useful. Monsoon hoods may be a useful place to start.

i think it can only be replaced with another plastic one, as the hood design is slightly different on the glass ones. The cost of changing the window is also quite a bit and its normally more cost effective to replace the whole hood for just a little bit more.

Have emailed Monsoon hoods, awaiting reply.
Might just be me, but compared to the Nissan forum (SXOC.com), I find the S2Ki site not very user friendly?
Any ideas on what price to expect for rear screen? Been quoted 125quid +vat for a second hand one which sounds a bit steep.
Cheers.

I'm one of the mods on s2ki for the UK section.
We have recently revised the mod team to improve the environment on there and welcome new owners.

Please ignore the few old school pedants wink

On the hood.
You can replace the plastic screen ~ £400 IIRC, though it is not much more for a new hood from Monsoon or others. It is possible to retrofit the later +02's) glass screen as well.
You can also get discounts via the owners club at www.s2kuk.com.

I have just found a guy who will replace the plastic screen for £200 + vat, worth a try:
