Discussion
I've got a really specific issue that I'm hoping someone may have come across before. Someone has nudged my rear bumper whilst parking, no damage, except the lower screw in wheel arch has popped out.
Anyway, I've got the screw, but it doesn't bite when I try and screw it back into the mountings, it looks like there is an insert to take the thread, although I guess this my be broken because of the way the screw was forced out, alternatively maybe it's missing, really not sure what it is supposed to look like, as I don't want to remove the other side in case I cock something up.
Has anyone got any info on how this screw is meant to go back in, Honda weren't able to help much and I'd rather not have the hassle of taking it into the garage for such a minor point
Thanks

There is a plastic insert in the bracket behind.
You may well have stripped the thread.
The other thing that happens is the shaft of the screw rips through the tab leaving a slot an prevent it holding.
Try a longer self tapping screw possibly with a large washer on the head.
You might find some more help here
