Been reading up on these and it seems they made a fairly rapid version of the little car with a 160hp 1.6 VTEC motor. But the model designations seem to be all over the place.

Which models (that you are likely to find in the UK, so genuine UK or Jap import) would have had this engine in?

Cheers. smile

The engine you are refering to is the B16 - also found in the mk2 CRX (like minesmile )

It is the only engine worth having in one. The most power/reliability + the crossover into vtec is savage and with the right exhaust sounds incredible.

IMO I'd get a mk2 crx instead - much better chassis, it's lighter and you won't look like a hairdresser driving it. I have driven both and the MK2 is the better car + if you get a jap one it'll be crammed ful of goodies like PAS, ABS an if it's an SiR it'll most likely have an LSD.

And if you're going to get a Mk2, get the 16v rather than the VTEC, as it's lighter and suits the nature of the car more (even though the B16 VTEC is a fantastic little engine).

not that much lighter, the extra bhp compensates and IMO the vtecs are prettier.

They are definately cheeper to buy though.

There's quite a difference, not to mention the better front/rear bias. You also do without the faulty ABS sensors (if I remember correctly).

I ran a mint Mk2 VT on track for a couple of years and it was great fun, but not as well balanced as the 16v.

The biggest issue is the sunroof turning the car into a perforated mess, which is going to be less of an issue in the Del Slo.

Not if you have a tintop or a glass roof wink

Having never driven a 16v on the track I can't argue with you, I'd love to see pics of your track crx????

Either way, either of them has to be better than a del sol?

Wind the windows down?

The Sol isn't a bad car, if you get one make sure it's a B16 engined one. I think their chassis is based on an EG civic which makes it a bit less nimble than a mk2 - however, finding a good condition mk2 is difficult, there is a nice SiR on here for £2500 which is brilliant value considering its mileage! My advice would be to test drive both, either way you'll end up with a solid motor with loads of grunt, and plenty of revs!!!!
