Buying a new Civic Type R GT - is the model being replaced?
Discussion
Hi, i am just looking into buying a brand new Civic type R GT and was wondering whether there is a new model on the horizon? It's just that there seems to be some pretty good deals around at the moment and there is normally a 'catch'. I know that the latest shape doesn't quite have the appeal to some that the earlier models did but what is the general verdict on them? I would probably only keep the car for 12 months or so but want something that is enjoyable to drive and will lose very little money.
Thanks in advance,
Danny.

No the new car isn't out until 2012.
There are some very good deals around. It was originally 08 models that were available, but I know of someone on civinfo this morning that is paying around £15,500 on drivethedeal for a 2009 model year car. Someone else who has paid £16,400ish including 5 years Honda Servicing again I believe it's for a 2009 car.
2010 cars have just entered production and im told that there are 2 new colours but not sure if they are on the Type R.

I have a sneaky suspicion about this. The limited edition white CTR has a LSD and the regular car doesn't. If the model has until 2012 then there is no way, IMHO, that Honda are not going to, at the very least, make the LSD an option on the regular car. Now, given the LSD is worth at least half a star in all the mags 5 star car ratings I think there are going to be a lot of people buying cheap CTRs this year that are going to be annoyed they missed out on the LSD. Having said that, the deals are amazing and won't be repeated on the revised car. Worth a thought.
Thanks for all the replies. The car that I had sourced was a parallel import for just under £16k including pearlescent paint. However, I'm inclined to go with the drive the deal offer now because the car will be delivered to me by a Honda dealer for the same money. Amongst other things this will mean that I won't have to drive 160 miles to collect the car and it will be recognised as an official UK car (even thought there is no real difference as far as I am aware.
Cheers,
Danny.

Makes sense. The trade seem to view parallel-imports as worth a little less than "UK" cars...probably because they know the punter paid less in the first place.Cheers,

The comment re: the diff is interesting - the EP3 was criticised for the lack of one (in the UK, anyway), so if HUK can make a business case for fitting one then it's by no means impossible...
I'd put more money on a mid-life facelift happening though...that probably IS just around the corner...
