could i get some advice on how to take off the rev limiter!

WHY?

The limiter is their to protect the engine, so it doesn't blow up. the vti/vtec engines rev to 8000rpm+ anyway no?

Yep, no point removing the limiter unless you have upgraded the valvetrain to cope with that power and make use of the revs.

You'll just damage something by revving out the stock engine past the OE rev limiter.

Unless maybe the OP is actually meaning the 180k speed limiter rather than the rev limiter?

Possibly, but AFAIK imports are not badged VTi
