'04 Honda Jazz buying advice pls

Hi,

my missus is looking at buying a Honda Jazz sport. The car was serviced at 53K and 69K miles and according to the manual this involves a timing belt change (IIRC) at 50K. I spoke the dealer who last serviced it at 53K and they said there is a timing chain not a belt and it needs doing at 75K.

Can anyone enlighten as I can't seem to a lot of info on this?

Car seems sound otherwise for age/mileage. There is a slight transmission whine related to revs. Could that be connected to a belt or cahin that needs doing? I know Honda's are known for a transmission whine noises though - my 04 Accord did similar from new...

btw any other known issues with these cars we should be aware of?

What engine is it? I assume the sport is the 1.4 at a guess these would be belts not chains, the service book will tell you what needs doing when. Sure someone will be along in a moment to do the same though!
