Im looking to purchase a civic type r, probably going to spend around 6.5K maybe more for the right car, spec etc...

I was wondering what i should be looking out for in this price range? What spec should be ensure the cars got etc.

Can anyone recommend a good type r based forum as they are often a great source of information.

Any advice would appreciated, thanks in advance

Jim

Apologies for hijacking the thread but Baby JS - with all the wisdom of a 20 yo rolleyes - is considering spending every penny he's got and borrowing some of mine too on one as well, so any info would be useful.

Apart from all the normal checks you would do before handing over your hard earned cash for a car I'd check for creaking steering rack, check how difficult it is to change into 2nd gear when car is still cold uneven wear on the rears tyres (stepping on the inside), wheel bearing noises from rear, FHSH etc, always gauge if the owner has been keeping an eye on the oil etc.

Hope thats a start

What's that all about?

The first one is a clique of w*nkers who were not welcome in the Civic site and the second one contains a lot of decent, factual information about the car in question.

Or was this just another of those cliquey posts?

Not cliquey in the slightest. Not sure if you've made a mistake as you seem to be agreeing with me?

Not been on either site for over a year, as don't particularly like either, but due to the questionable business activities of a certain mod i have real issues with one of them and can't recommend it to others as an unbiased resource.

No steering rack/ engine mount creaks and front suspension knocks are the main ones

Think you got the 2 forum addresses mixed up Dan. wink

Anyway the original is always better than a copycat site.
