I've got anything from £840 with RAC and HSBC to £1740 with a Jap specialist lol

Based on 1999, 29yrs old, SDP only, up to 5k miles, 6ts 11/05 and 3pts 2/06 and 7yrs NCB.
That's parking on driveway and with OH as additional driver. Based in North West England.

Bell and Admiral are the two mainstream insurers that always seem to give me the best quotes with sensible excesses. Brokers that are usually pretty good are Chris Knott, Greenlight, Adrian Flux and A-Plan, they can usually beat the Bell and Admiral quotes by £50 or so but the excesses are 2 or 3 times higher.

ETA - I'm 28 with a 2006 S2000 GT, SDP and commuting 10k miles per year, 7yrs protected NCB, parked on driveway in a semi-rural Reading postcode with mother and brother on the policy (reduced my quote by £120 and £6 respectively!) paying £650 a year with £250 excess.

My advice would be to avoid Elephant unless you really can't get insurance elsewhere. I am with them and wish I had just burned my £750.00 premium instead. Pm me if you really can't go elsewhere and want more info.

With reference insurance info generally, have you tried s2ki.com then going to the UK community? They have a huge insurance thread which might help

Try all of these. I'm the same age and situation as you. Got mine for £550 with a-plan but 8k per annum limited miles/ Adrian flux were very competitive also. Ps - you can usually haggle with all of these companies in the link.

I called a-plan. They quoted me £860. So right now Chris knott at £830 is the cheapest!

A-plan has refered me onto a specialist high performance insurer! not sure if the S2000 is high performance... at only 240bhp thats hardly mind blowing in todays car market.. but anyway... lets see the result!

Still quite a bit tbh. Try putting a female on the policy also. For 3k per year I could get it for under £400 with chris knott. I think things like where the car is parked overnight and whether or not it is used for comuting affect the premium.

I have my mother on the insurance as a light user, its is just used for social and pleasure reasons, has a clifford 650 mk2 alarm, car is worth £18,000, parked in a garage and i only do 2k miles a year! will speak to CK again to haggle them down!

My premium might be higher as I live in London.. that adds a fair deal of money on top of the price ;-( I will give it a go though Mat!

28 with 9 years no claims and clean licence.

I was quoted £1200 by directline. I phoned them to cancel my existing policy and they magically reduced it to £740.

Thats in low crime area of Oxfordshire, parked on the driveway with the wife tacked on the policy and unlimited mileage.

Quite happy with that.
