Well this weekend just gone, I got hold of a Parrot MKi9200 and the SOT lead I needed to install it into the Civic, and with the help of a mate set about pulling apart the Civic ready for installation.

Tools required:

Toolkit
Laptop with Wireless or Mobile Internet
Civinfo.com
Mate with a fast car incase you've forgotten anything. (ta Rasta wink)

Project manager is optional, ours decided to go listen to trance/back to bed. Eh Tigs?

Slightly humourous start - put all the bits in the boot, shut the boot and went about disconnecting the battery. Disconnected the battery and went to get the bits out of the boot. Oh, you can't open the boot without the battery connected - d'oh!

Got this far:

Only to find that the blokes at the car audio place had sold me the wrong lead - the one for the old shape Civic - rather than the new one. So back it went, and I've got to find another clear day to pull it all apart again.

However, what surprised me, is that despite the amount of interior panels that needed removing, it was a fairly painless proceedure when you had the right tools. On the day above there may have been a couple of rather rapid trips to Halfords in a mates Mondeo ST220 to pick up tools, but apart from that, it was relatively painless.

Still not 100% sure how I want to route the wires and where I plan on putting them, but the hope is that will become clear when I unravel the Parrot kit smile

Oh, and on the route home from Milton Keynes after that level of destruction, I hadn't caused any rattles - must be a miracle biggrin
and the second installment, around 25 days later (damn delays!):

Riiiight.

Well, I finally managed to get the SOT lead I required (thanks to Norwich In Car Entertainment, no thanks to Norfolk Car Audio...but that is another story), so I set about pulling the car apart for the second time.

No during pictures, but I'll try to give an overview of how the install went. Have got to pull the dash apart again because I may have forgotten two unimportant screws, but there are currently no rattles, so it can wait a while biggrin

First bit I tackled was the placement of the microphone - relatively straight forward position:

....but to make hiding the wire easier, used a black cable tie to keep the wire where I wanted it:

Then I ran the cable across the top of the windshield (behind the headlining) and down the drivers side pillar (came across the top of the plastic piece, and down the rubber trim on the right):

...and down the side, finally run underneath the dash:

You cannot see the wire unless you are looking for it:

Next to locate the screen on the dash, the panel underneath the Parrot display came out, and whilst the headunit was removed, ran the cable down underneath the fascia and to the control box.

The control pad is wireless (runs of a watch type battery) so could go anywhere, but I thought the location I chose gave relatively good access and no chance of it getting in the way whilst driving:

The final task was to locate the media lead (after putting as much of the dash back as possible), so I decided to use the rubber bung that blocks off where the CD changer leads come into the centre console. Chopped the bottom off the bung so that the lead could enter, but the bung could still reside in place:

...which leaves the USB/iPod/3.5mm Jack lead neatly located in the centre console:

Et Voila - C'est fini!

Time taken? Most of an afternoon, but I wasn't exactly rushing things smile
