Ive owned a jordan for 4 years now, and other than the leather seats its a vti with a 200 quid bumper lip kit thrown on it. Id rate the little VTi's highly as an underated car!!! With 160 bhp out of 1600cc its a nippy little thing, and light, and with somne decent suspension, can be turned into an awesome B road thrasher!!!! Another thing about the B16 engine is the fact thats its INDESTRUCTABLE!!!! Ive thrashed the living hell out of mine and its still perfection!!!! 126k on the clock and not a smoke or ratle in sight wink
Its getting a rebuild this year, but only due to it having a turbo strappd to it biggrin

biggrin

Check the rear wheel arches for corrosion - where they meet the rear bumber.

I can't help on specfics but......

Honda: Probably the most reliable engine maker going. You could port and flow your cylinda head by pouring sand it the air intake and it would still work. Service history is key, but as a whole they are stronger then most.

Speed: Its subjective really. If you have spent the last 200 years dragging your self around with your eye brows, then yes its very very fast, if you step out of a F50... not so... Again they are not slow, and Honda have never been ones for putting out dated and poorly designed engines (efficency, power, reliability) into there cars.

Buying; Ideally you want a 7000 year old pensioner who is abosolutly minted. They car will have done 20k in 10 years all on sunny bright days. The body work will be perfect, the option lists ticked and the interior smelling of hair spray, murry mints, and rich tea biscuits. If you get any suggestion that someone of similar ilk to your self has had a chance to drive the car, alarm bells should start ringing. No offence, but look at it from a different point of view. Also a good indicator of age and use will be the pedels and steering wheel, looking for signs of excessive wear for the milage. Check the tyres for even wear, cold starting issues, blue smoke etc etc.

Modifying: Get a decent induction kit. Then get a full exhaust system. Don't just stick a fart box on. You need a cat for MOT, but running a decent manifold and exhaust will aid flexibility in driving. Stick some coil overs on and uprated pads (discs if they need changing). Then start saving. Buy a bigger car/ engine transplant if your inlove with the car.

Finally: Be sensible, yes its fun going fast when here is more danger but not really a good idea. If your keen on driving quickly, try a track day, or go out on a meet, you will be in the company of expirenced drivers and will be able to gage what the limits are more easily.

hope it helps.

wink
