I want to pressure wash my engine bay. Any ideas what to do? (cue sarcastic comments about weilding a pressure washer around the engine bay......) I need to know what things to mask off, wrap in clingfilm etc...

Oh its a 05' EP3 CTR

Cheers all,

Just don't. Wash it by hand with a sponge. It's less work, especially if you factor in the damage to the electrics you'd do with a pressure wash.

Mike do you use your own pressure washer or one down the garage? the reason i ask is the one down the garage is mightly powerful.... ( i removed about a square foot of tarmac when sprayed on the floor!!!! yikes ) There is a weaker one i can use, i was thinking of wrapping up in clingfilm all the bits that look electrical and being careful. Any how i'm going to give ti a whirl and see what happens. Recommend a engine degreaser for me ???????

Buy one of those garden sprayers from b&q, fill it 7/8 to the top with v hot water, fill the rest with heavy duty kitchen degreaser, spray everywhere in the `bay (apart from leccy bits)...rinse with hose pipe......hey presto......

Dont do it on your own drive though....

I would highly recommend Autosmart G101 - I've used it on numerous engine bays and it always does a really good job. (works on everything else too, everyone should get some!)

If I'm using a pressure washer on the bay, I always just make sure to be sensible about where I spray it (i.e. avoiding electrics for prolonged periods), and don't hold it too close. But I've never bothered wrapping or masking anything, and have never had any issues.
