S2000/GT differences ?
Discussion
Is the GT model simply because it has the hardtop ? Can youbuy the hardtop later (second hand) and just pop it on ordoesthe car has to have some mounting plates fitted at the factory when new ?
Its just that i've seen a nice S2000 (non GT) and would be happy tobuy a hard top later as I could get all the way through the summer without the need for one.

So far as I'm aware the only difference between the GT and the "normal" S2000 is the hard top. However, I've a feeling that early (1999/2000?) cars don't have the mounting brackets required for the hard top.
I'm sure I'll shortly be corrected by someone who knows what they're talking about!

GT is exactly the same but with the hardtop (and fixings/mountings).
You can buy a hardtop for a non GT buy must buy the fixings/mounting kit too. Not cheap from Honda but you can source the bits elsewhere, still not going to be cheap though. There is no fixings kit on non-GT models, whatever the year. Not sure about 06+ on but don't see why they would have the kit anyway. My MY03 certainly doesn't.

Dracoro is correct.
Plenty of GT's about on the market, usually at ~£300-500 premium over a non-GT. 2nd hand hard-top will cost >£300 anyway, and not sure where you'd get a fixing kit from, nor how much So unless you've seen a fantastic non-GT, it's usually not worth the hassle.
IMHO, the benefits of the hard top are:-
- better rear-viz when fitted
- a little quieter / better insulated than soft-top. And a little more headroom.
- (most importantly) protection for soft-top in winter if you're not storing the car in a garage overnight. If it's garaged every night, I wouldn't say you need a hard-top.

I was / am thinking of getting a hard top for mine , same boat as you , it's not a GT. I was watching one on ebay that had the fitting kit with it but the seller ended early as it wasn't making his expected price. He's re-listed it again but wants £1100 b-i-n which is a bit too much IMO
