Turbo or supercharger. (D series like boost)

If your staying NA i'd go for a crower stage 2 cam (About the only cam i know for single cam D's), high comp pistons and a set of throttle bodies.

Or stick a B16 or a B18c/c6 in and have fun

If your car has a D16y8 in it then it's either a n esi or an import si, most likely an esi tbh

SiR are the top of the range model with the B16a,

You could drop a B16a into yours without much hassle if it's already vtec compatible wiring harness. All you needs the b16 and all the ancillaries and ecu

If it has a D16 engine then your car is not an SiR. The 1995 EG6 SiR has a B16 engine, 160bhp.

Sounds like a MB shape civic of some sort as well if you say its the same shape as a rover 400 (From my quick search of the interweb, i had no clue what a rover 400 looked like)

Post a picture of the car and engine bay an we'll tell you what you own, does the V5 not entail such detail though?
