Well, I sold my S2000 a week or so ago...and now for...
Discussion
Something not dissimilar!
I borrowed my colleagues 55 Type R (Civic) over the weekend as I missed VTEC, we both have company cars and he borrowed my 118d...I bloody loved his type R, what a fantastic car!
I was planning to get a Z4M or Boxster but this morning I thought, well, that's a lot of money I will just have a quick look at local Civics on Autotrader. Not much about, really.
Then I thought. Oh, the Integra, that could be fun...Lo and behold a DC2 pops up just 6 miles away. Went to see it at lunchtime and bought it there and then.
I'm well pleased with it. Not quite as quick as the Civic but great fun and a little more iconic.
65700 miles, full folder of invoices and receipts, FHSH pretty much (except the last service which was a minor).
Pretty much stock other than an itg drop in filter. Toyos all around.
I was post proper pics up when I've detailed it. A few swirl marks, couple of bonnet stone chips and one or two parking dents.
Recommend me any owners forums?

Oh, I think you'll find it is! Nice one John...hope you like her, she looks like a good one.
Toyos...will probably need extra pressure in them, as they're a soft sidewall and the 'teg responds well to stiff s'walls.
And have you found itr-dc2.com yet?
Air filter? Doubt it gives you any more power, but probably won't cost much power (like the S2000, the stock airbox and filter are actually about the best), so if you like the sound, keep it.
Will post more when more awake,
Cheers,
M.

Its the stock airbox with a drop in filter.
Maybe the Civic was deceiving with its low down torque (iVTEC)
The last CTR I test-drove had a very odd throttle-map. "From launch" it felt properly rapid, snapping your head back in gears 1 through 3. But at a low M-way cruising speed, planting the throttle did little/no more than putting the throttle only half-way down...which is to say not a lot. Even if you dropped it a gear, it felt lethargic. In precisely the rev-range where you'd expect the thicker mid-range to give it an advantage over the DC2, it actually felt worse...Maybe the Civic was deceiving with its low down torque (iVTEC)
In the real-world, there's not a lot between them...the CTR's extra poke and mid-range are offset by the extra 100kg and marginally longer gearing.
choice!
glad yo hear you finally managed to shift your s!
i went from a civic type r to an s2000 to a DC2 type r so i know the buggers inside out! civic "felt" keener but pace wise, i dont think anything in it - you really do need to wind the teg and the s2k up to get the best out of them but when you do they leave the civic behind for pure theatre, IMO.
Even coming from the S2000, my drive back home in the teg made me laugh out loud - you really "feel" the low weight and the engine has more of a zing than the s2k. Such sweet handling for a fwd car, too.
An excellent choice sir, hope you enjoy. I myself, I think, have decided to go for another S2000, just in time for the warmer months. I think you either "get" vtec engines or you dont - i, personally, bloody love 'em!

Well I have had
1 x CRX 1.6i-VT (H reg)
1 x Civic 1.6VTi (N reg)
2 x S2000 (both 02 models, one in the USA and the most recent here in UK)
and now the Integra! (V reg)
I think I would consider myself someone who likes VTEC!
The lower weight cars can hold their own. My mate had a V reg (then-new) 1.6VTi coupe when I had the CRX. He struggled to keep up despite the power advantage, I think the Civic coupe was a fair bit heavier.
I don't disbelieve the fact that the 'teg and CTR are closely matched on that basis.
I did have one of those yellow R27 Meganes fly past me last night. That was very rapid indeed.

For the best fun get rid of the Toyo with soft side walls and put bridgestone RE010 on. Not the best in wet grip or dry grip but the turn in makes it into a totaly different car. The car REALLY needs stiff side walled tyres. If you are not using it every day you could try track day tyres like yoko A048's but weigh up the pros and cons first.
My JDM is at least as quick as a Civic Type-R. I've driven both. The CTR feels very ordinary after the teg.
Theres not much in it pace wise though. The Civic is a little torquier, and has an extra gear ratio, which makes up for its weight deficit somewhat over the teg. Top end theres nothing in it, top speeds are very similar. The teg is quicker off the mark. Personally, and I dont know about anyone else, but I think the B18 in the teg sounds MUCH nicer than the K20, despite the latter being a technically better engine.
Personally I wouldnt worry about modern machines being quicker. The teg is all about the experience from behind the wheel. Compared to modern cars, it feels quicker because of its rawness and light weight, and I just love the way it dances on the tarmac. In a straight line, some of your modern hot hatches may be a little quicker, but I bet theres less in it than some people think, we're talking fractions of seconds here. And on a country road, the teg will be an irritating little wasp on the tail of these lardy hatchbacks.

Was out on the Fosse Way at 545am today, with correct tyre pressures, 99 RON, wow!
Great car, much easier to fling about with confidence than the S2000 and as a result for a mediocre driver (like me) it was probably quicker point to point.
Spent 7 hours on the car detailing today. Looks (almost) like new. I think that the paint on the car has never seen a claybar before and what a beehatch of a job that was!
Last car I clayed was 3 years old which was a walk in the park in comparison!
Just need to get those tyres on and then get the wheels refurbed next.
Put a Kenwood iPod-ready CD player in on friday and whipped out the old (Honda) HU and CDC. Probably saved a pound or two doing that!
ETA: can't speak for the accuracy of it as I estimated weight of car + fuel + me at 2700lb but according to my iPod dyno application, 170 wheel hp and 0-60 in 6.65 secs.
Curve in the road occured before the 1/4 mile distance so I didnt get an accurate reading for that.

Nice one John - I believe those tyres are the same I had on the Z and agree that they are pretty good.
Nice to see an ITR that is not championship white too!
EDIT: Just noticed the wheels - are they the original black ones? They look a bit silver/grey in the photos.

Havoc - a Kenwood KDC6357U (I think?) - it was in the 'end of line' cabinet at Halfrauds with (what I've since found out to be) an optional iPod lead connected to the USB lead which comes out of the back.
Goochie - The wheels are vey dark metallic grey an anthracite colour, I think in the pics above (now deleted) it was a trick of the flash as it was after sunset.
Some better pics follow (yes, I still have my colleague's Civic R as seen in the first pic; he's loving the MPG of my 118d and I only live 6 miles from work through back lanes so I'm happy).
The car isn't absolutely mint, the red has faded a little on tops of doorhandles and wing mirrors, and it's had a little paint on here and there on scratches or stone chips:
The colour scheme reminds me of the Clio Trophy (or should it be the newer Clio reminds me of the older Honda? )
