Hi guys, Ive just brought a 2004 Honda Accord Estate 2.2TDI (pick it up wednesday), and would like to know where I can find the exact service schedule for these cars and engine please? Ive had a quick search, but couldnt find anything. Ive been told they need oil / filter changes every 5,000 miles (same as my '93 Nissan 200sx), but what about other things like fuel & air filter, spark plugs ect, and does the timing chain need to be re-tensioned at any stage? The car has just clocked 45,000 miles, and last oil & fuel filter change at 41K, but they didnt do anything else.

I assume they have a service message flash up on the dash like VW's?

Any info would be great.
Nick.

Servicing is every 12500 miles or 12 months whichever comes first.
As long as you do the mileage every second service is a major - 50,000 mile service is major, where fuel, air and pollen filters are also changed.
There is a chain, not belt and it does not require any attention as long as you do not let the engine oil level get low in which case it can stretch and damage.
There are no service messages lighting up. Best get it registered with your nearest dealer and then they will be able to send you service and MOT reminder letters.
In your service book near the pages of the service stamps is a list of what is done at each interval, again your dealer can supply a check sheet that they work to or I can email you a pdf copy.

Thanks for the info, so it needs oil / filter every year then, same as my old Passat. I did think every 5k on a modern engine was abit strange.

The previous owner before the guy Im buying it off actually lost the service history book so if you could e-mail a PDF copy that would be great. (nick_vid@yahoo.co.uk)

Im hoping to do oil & filter changes myself (were dead easy on a pasat) then garages for major services and checks where they can put the car on ramps. Going to do this as soon as I get the car, because of the lack of service history.

Thanks.
Nick.

Many thanks for the e-mail. Can keep up with the servicing now. Ive read on another forum somewhere that if you are constantly getting poor MPG, there could be something wrong with the ECU, is there any truth in that?
