You'll probably get more responses if you post this on the owners forum.

Ok so not the same car, but I have a Quaife in my EK4 VTi, and yes, it is exteremly useful on the road. A worthwhile modification on your 'pretend' Type Rs!

One of the better moves might be to source a JDM gearbox for the EP3.

From memory the JDM box includes an LSD, as well as slightly shorter ratios.

The OEM LSD/Box combination is a good one and doesn't require any special servicingk, either.

They're not proper Type R's if they havn't got an LSD in my opinion, and i don't understand why honda didn't even include one as an option as they've finally got round to recently with newer FN2. To answer your question, if your into driving your EP3 properly (your honour) then yes they are worth it. You'll be able to put alot more power down mid corner and also increase steering angle/attitude with the throttle, great on flat nice surfaced roundabouts etc. The down side is when you want to go in a straight line on bumpy/bad surfaced B roads as the differing loads on the front wheels will cause the diff to react and transfer power and basically cause torque steer, which can be frustrating. So it depends on how and where you use your car. LSDs are something you kinda need to get used to. Personally i wouldn't have another front driver without one as the advantages outweigh the dissadvantages.

The EP3 JDM (with hydraulic power steering and LSD) is rare as rocking-horse poo, as nearly all of them went to Japan - ironically they have a Union Jack badge on the back.

I have done considerable miles in a EP3 (without lsd) and now own a DC5 Integra, the mechanical power steering and LSD make a huge difference to conering abilty.

IMHO if you want to transform your car go and look at getting a fast road setup (springs+camber arms/bolts etc)and the geometry done (TGM/TDI)

Couple this with decent tyres and add an LSD and you will really feel the benefits both on the road and track.

Just my 2p.

Is that right, about the hydraulic PS?

Thought the only Type R since 2002 that had hydraulic PS was the DC5????

You're right the DC5 and the new CTR (FD2) have hydraulic PS. I thought the JDM EP3 had the same setup to go with the LSD .. maybe i'm wrong.

I'm not convinced the JDM EP3 had hydraulic steering. Some of the entry level Accords had electric PAS to help emmissions/MPG, whilst the rest had hydraulic, but I don't know of any other models which had both?

thanks, will try and fit an LSD when funds are higher..

as a cheap fix in the meantime, has anyone changed their bushings to hyperflex ones? if yes did this make much of a difference to handling?

Just bear in mind that if you stiffen the suspension at the front, it's going to exaggerate any traction problems.

I think for a £1200/£1400 mod they are not worth it if you are just going to drive the car on the road.
