I have a uk 04 civic type r. It has a racing manifold and de-catted racing exhaust. The engine light is constantly on as the racing exhaust has no cat so no need for the second o2 sensor. Does this do any lasting damage to the engine? I have tired an o2 simulator by cpl racing but this makes the car idle eractically.

Get a spacer for the 2nd sensor?

Only issue I can think of is any "other" engine issue will not be spotted as your light is on all the time.

Pic of a de-cat with a spacer for the 2nd sensor (this pulls it out the airflow, drops the detected AFR, the stock ECU thinks the cat is still there).

Hi,

If fitting our O2 sim the car run differently you have done something wrong.

The 02 sim does not affect the running of the car in any way.

Hope this helps

thanks for your help. I put the standard exhaust back on to pass the MOT and to leave on while the weather is rubbish but still getting the engine light. I have had the codes resetwhen it had the MOT but engine light comes and goes. I still have the CPL o2 simulator attached ot the second o2 sensor, would this cause the light to come on as there is now a cat on the exhaust?
