Need a replacement front windscreen for my Honda FD2 2007year. Live in Northern Ireland. My insurance ties me to Auto Glass and I am having to wait until one is ordered from Japan which could take up to April!!!
I feel the Honda Hybrid windscreen may be suitable as a replacement. Any comments on this please. Much appreciated.

I'd be kicking up a fuss with your insurer - a 3 month wait without being able to use the car is unacceptable.

First though, check if your local dealer can get one in...if it can, then tell your insurers that Autoglass are playing silly b'ggers.

As for the hybrid? Not sure...the DC2 and IIRC the ATR had thinner glass to save weight. Not sure if the later Type-R's adopted the same philosophy or not, worth checking first...

Don't Honda have a vast spares warehouse in Holland or somewhere? I know you have to use Auto Glass but it couldn't hurt to have a word with your local Honda dealer. In my experience, they can order all sorts of stuff quickly, regardless of whether or not it's for a car that was officially sold here or not.

Honda dealer, yes. But it won't be cheap.

I've just checked stock with all my suppliers and they're listing prices, but nil stock; not even at their central holding warehouses.

Check with an OE source - your local Honda parts counter and confirm availability + lead time. Then politely ask your insurance company to have a word with AG anto ensure they send a suitable technician to work on your show car with the same screen from the same Honda dealer which will be available to them too.

When I had my EK9 I had no issue getting a light weight screen, it came from Belgium. I had to wait 3 days.

Interesting one. I was led to believe the FD2 shared the same screen as the hybrid/IMA.

Honda will be able to source one and can get one next day for you if there is stock in Belgium - they are able to source most FD2 parts this way. However, if they are on back order you could be in for a wait I hate to say. Took me 4 months to get my sunblind kit!

I wonder if they could fit the hybrid one as a temporary measure. Not your fault if something happens to the hybrid screen when an OEM one comes back into stock

I would have thought that if the FD2 has a lightweight screen, then the Hybrid will also, for obvious reasons.
