Hi people I recently got a 58 plate Honda Civic Type R but when I looked at the exhaust it has two triangle surrounds and then inside two circular exhaust pipes. Now I always thought they were triangular all the way through so I started looking at other Civics and have noticed that 2006/2007 Type R & S are solid triangular all the way through yet 2008 has a triangular surround in the bumper but then circular pipes which Honda have tried to hide.

I seem to be rambling but can anybody back me up on this and possibly know why Honda have done this as I think it looks rubbish and I'm gonna crash soon keep checking out different Civic exhausts.

Any info appreciated.

Are you sure the 07s are triangular all the way through? Seems a really stupid design?

(Obv, not as stupid as the spoiler across the back window, but stupid none the less)

Think 07 yes but definitely 2006 was as there was one opposite my mates house so went for a closer look. Only reason it was highlighted to me was coz someone said they liked the design had a look and then asked me why mine had two round tailpipes. Doesn't affect noise just looks funny. I don't mind the spoiler on the back as do a lot of motorway driving and blocks headlights behind nicely without adjust the rear view mirror.

I wouldn't have thought a Triangular Exhaust, would be terribly efficient?

My type r is a 2007 on a 57 plate which has two circular pipes leading up to the triangular trim,i thought all new shape type r's were the same design whatever year they were.
