Our Recently Purchased S2000....initial thoughts.
Discussion
We bought our S2000, an '05 GT a couple of weeks ago.
What a great car!!
I have just driven from London to Manchester this morning. This was my first long(ish) journey in the car and it was great fun!
What I can't get over is that although I have owned faster cars, the S2000 still feels ballistic when you boot it! That VTEC noise is soooo addictive too! I feel as though I could almost be on my GSXR with the sound it makes accelerating!
I'm looking forward to the return drive now!!
I'd like to be get a few aftermarket bits for the car, and want to start off with an exhaust. Ideally I'd want the replacement boxes or system to give it a deeper tone and more noise generally! Any Suggestions on exhausts to look at or should I just get a pair of Powerflow back boxes made up?
I am also going to be upgrading the headunit to an Alpine i-Pod unit, and also the speakers, as the originals are a bit weedy.
Also I'd like to try and get a few opinions on what other aftermarket mods are worth considering?
Any advice/opinions appreciated.
Scott

Re exhausts - I'd avoid powerflow when there is so much quality stuff out there.
I've got a "Buddyclub Pro Spec" cat back system on mine, basically a copy of the Spoon N1 but twin exit.
Its REALLY loud, much louder than i was expecting, so my advice is to listen before you buy! (Luckily i like it)
If you are driving back from Manchester to London, I'm based in Solihull near the NEC if you want a listen to mine.
Sounds a bit like this....but better

Congratulations...hope you have fun!
www.s2ki.com is your friend for all questions like that. It's a global forum, but there's an active UK section...some good people on there!
As for audio, a lot of people fit headrest speakers...may want to check into that!
While you're on there, search for 'suspension bushes'/'suspension bolts', and also 'alignment meets'. The car handles VERY differently depending on how the suspension is set-up, as it's fully adjustable (camber, castor and toe).

Agree, S2Ki is all you need, just use the search function
If you want noise, easy, power equals a deep digging of the pockets
Try taking off the airbox lid and see if that is the sort of noise your after. Lose you a few horses but it will give you an idea if you can live day to day with induction roar.
I think its hard to improve upon the S2K sensibly. Form a purely looks point of view i fancy mine lowered, but thats about all. And to do it the "correct way" it will cost me some 5k aud or 2k sterling for coilovers, spacers, arms and setup etc. Not cheap if it wont see a track.
My HU being changed for Pioneer one, but i find the speakers in the 04 model fine for a rag top. Going to add a footwell sub tho after the new year, as thats what i miss, some thump. All on S2Ki.
Ohh, want to lower the seat too, but to buy the rails i will need to save again, not cheap", if you dont want to diy hammer the std seat...

I find having changed the induction to a K&N the car sounds more sporty especially with the top down, lovely induction roar right through the rev range - and a great scream after 6000rpm! I'd like to change the exhaust as well but not sure I really feel the need after adding the induction kit. If I do then it would be something that sounds deep and sporty rather than just plain loud, perhaps a HKS one.
K&N was about £200 (when exchange rate was over $2 to £1!), had to buy from the USA as they don't seem to sell them in the UK at all.

To the OP its good to see how you are liking your new car, I should pick mine up on Tuesday (insurance papers in the post hopefully!) - and sorry for the forum for the obvious look at me just bought a s2000 posts, this car is really exciting me
Anyway your point about how fast this car is, you are not wrong there! My other car is a 400hp 400ft/lb monaro which is silly power so I'm used to a bit of ooomph. Where the ro is clearly better in gear for the over takes I was astonished at just how fast I was going so quickly in the 2000 during yesterdays lengthy test drive. It doesnt feel as fast as it is, when I looked down and was doing a lot more than expected I realised the car was a lot more capable than I had first thought.
To put it another way, its the first sub 3.0ltr (fun) car I've owned in 9 years and the first IL4 in just as long. Good to hear you are enjoying it, makes me even more comfortable about the purchase
