Ladies and Gentlemen, when I get my licence back I am looking for a new car. I've always fancied a CRX/Del Sol, kinda sporty looks without breaking the bank but still having enough poke to command respect on the road.

I have been a passenger in a modified one down a dual carriageway, seemed to be fairly good at handling for the size and layout and I owned a Civic for 6 and a bit years so I am used to Honda reliability.

I don't want a modified version, I am almost 27 and I've had "family cars" since I passed my test apart from my 5.6 litre Mercedes. I'd like a practical car that reflects my age rather than yet another 5 door hatch. I am still young and my Brother will accuse me of copying him if I buy an Mx-5.

Can I have some advice on ownership please.

I want a car that is relatively modern with a sporty edge. I'd love a Mk1 CRX but not as an everyday runabout.

Get a MK2, youll get a decent VTEC for similar money to the Delslo. Unless youre a hairdresser the delsol/ crx's are really girly cars*.
Plus the roofs creak like mad - even from new - and suffer from scuttle shake.

  • My opinion. Though moreso if in that awful green.....

How much have you got to spend?

If you can stretch to it get an Import Mk2 CRX SiR.

I'd like a direct swap or very little to pay with my A-Class.

I had a couple of CRX (De; Sol) when I worked for the Big H.

Get the elec rof model as there was a manual top with a carrier in the boot.

That roof is heavier that you think!

Mechanically bullet proof, but check for usual signs of abuse.

Check for body damage, Cam belt due at 60k,

Roof should work smoothly, but can creek a bit when place esp in Cold weather.

Check for driveshaft noise on full lock.

Cheers for that, I just went to see the one that is on Autotrader. Nice wee car, my Dad wants to buy it, he liked it so much. My last runabout was a Civic before I bought the A-Class, I bought it new and sold it on 6 n a bit years later with 170,000 miles on the clock. I know how good Hondas are.
