Getting a new stereo soon, which comes with a USB slot in the back. Also comes with a 1m cable, so I can run it to anywhere in/under/behind the dashboard and centre console.

I'm not keen on drilling a hole in the back of the glovebox for it, but I'd still like it to go to somewhere where I can attach the USB stick out-of-sight (can't be bothered to get an iPod). The coin tray under the existing stereo seems like an idea, but I'm not sure it'd be 100% out of sight.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Martin.

How about the other pocket, to the lower right of the steering wheel?

Just fitted (now to read the monster instruction manual to turn off the silly "demo mode"!).

Cheers for the suggestion Bill - worked perfectly!

Music over the aural delights of VTEC? Shame on you biggrin

Got rid of the stereo out of mine. Saves a couple of kilos, which means I can have more of these burgerburgerburger

Sadly, about half of the miles I do are M-way (NEED tunes to drown out the noise) or commuting (where I can't VTEC for the first half and am stuck in traffic for most of the 2nd half).

So tunes are important. 16Gb of tunes will be great...and my logic is it's saved me the weight of a CD autochanger and a glove-box full of CD's! tongue out

Now what about a sub... wink

Kenwood 8041/8141 (BT8141U I think). Apparently now discontinued.

Controls are reasonably intuitive, although some menus are a pain to get to, the r-h 'stick/button' (bit like an I-drive - rotate/tilt/press combined) can be a little difficult to press dead-centre on the move but is usually OK, and the 3-line display is really useful. Having both in-built bluetooth and a whole library of songs is excellent, and sound quality is plenty good enough for the 'teg.

Only other downside - the blue graphics are a bit cheesy.

Hi havoc...just a quick threadjack to say I have now replaced my S2000...with a 'teg!

There is a thread on this section of PH with details of it.

Great fun to drive. Must remember...NO SIXTH GEAR!

ETA: What speakers fit into the stock locations? I have the standard Honda tape player with CDC in the boot. I may change for an iPod ready HU and (regardless of that) some better speakers are on the cards I think.

I've had a lot of success with powered subs that fit under the seat prior to now, if you're looking for an all in one solution. I think I will try and stay away from subs but if I go for a decent HU then maybe amplified components.

Good man!!! biggrin

There are times when driving it I miss the rwd of the S2000, but the poise, feedback and 'up-for-it-ness' more than make up for it...you'll enjoy it.

Speakers? Supposedly SHALLOW 6.5" all-round - shallow due to where the windows drop-to. Not seen the install of the rears, but at the front:-
- they are a shallow fit...depth-wise, there's a set of Infinity 17cm's which fit, but the plastic cowling (flat-topped pyramid which is vented/baffled to permit air but divert water) behind the speaker has a narrow 'base' which the Infinitys' magnets don't squeeze into. So you'd need to re-fabricate a new cowling for it...avoiding the windows!
- the plastic frames have a non-standard screw-hole pattern too.
- A number of 17cm's don't actually fit as the plastic frames are more like 16 to 16.5cm.
Stock items are actually Pioneer, and adequate unless you're fitting an amp or really like your music.

It's not a big job to remove the door-card to have a look for yourself, although bear in mind that the door-lock / door-pull surround comes off (at least partly) by sliding it to one side a bit...you can damage it if you don't realise that and force it!

HU - I quite like my Kenwood, but the (more expensive) Pioneers looked good too...although the better one had the worse (single-line, so difficult for scrolling through playlists) display, typically...and the Alpines looked over-priced as the Bluetooth unit was an add-on.
