ODB 1 and 2 are the connectors for the loom i believe (I'm no expert so have a read up on the subject first).

You will find some great info on Honda tech / JDMy0 / Civic life.net etc. The swap has been done a million times before so there is plenty of info out there. your car is slightly harder to do the swap as you have carbs and the B16 is fuel injection.

If i were you - I would get a engine from a Integra Type R (B18). It has more torque, and is quite a beast in the EG civic. If you really want to go all out why not get K24 in there? More money but you will have a very quick car.

One last thing...

The brakes on your car are only suitable for the 1.3 engine. If you go for the B series engine go for at least the 262mm VTI set up. I went for the 282mm set up off the prelude and its fantastic.

Not sure of people to do the swap for you - but it will be expensive.

Have you thought about brakes/suspension?

I'd honestly consider buying an esi or an lsi at the least if your wishing to do the conversion.

As your dx is a 1.3 carb, it is not electronic fuel injection.

To do this conversion to a dx off the top of my head you will need.

  • Engine, ecu, box, driveshafts, gear linkages, fuel tank from lsi or above, fuel lines, fuel pump, interior and engine loom from vei or esi/vti, dash or clocks from lsi or above.
Alot of work and money basically, then you definately will need to think about arb's, brakes, master cylinder or brake booster. Not sure if dx suspension differs from any other models but i'd recommend changing them too.

If your going straight from a dx to a vti or bigger you'll scare yourself s**tless so i'd say don't cut any corners with any aspect of braking or handling with the car

thank you all for your insight into this, i have just found someone who has a b16a2 engine, with s80 gearbox, hes going to fit the engine, gearbox, external fuel pump, dash loom, front and rear hubs, driveshafts, for 1800.thats for all of the engine plus fitting,is this a good price? only problem is that i will have to drive up leicester, which is far when i live in gatwick.
