hi, thinking of getting one of these next year are these cars reliable as i dont want a car thats breaking down every other day? and wats the mpg like? also is there anyone on here whos got one and whats the insurance like? next year ill be 20 i will have been driving for 3 years with a clean licence but with no no-claims as im on my mums name. would like to go on my own name do you think ill get insurance for under £2000? thanks, dan.

1. Yes, very reliable like any other Honda when maintained properly
2. Insurance is Group 20(that's only a guide btw), but shop around, sky insurance and A-plan are supposed to be good.
3. No idea on prices as most of the online quotes don't seem to list imports(especially the EK9).

You will pay a premium for a nice one though. For similar money a DC2 would be a good alternative. Or a newer EP3 r could be had for similar money

If you can afford it go for a facelift model(98-99)

My dad has one as a track car, here


Reliable- yes(obvisously)...never used as a daily car but takes well to a track beating.
Insurance- not registered for road...but will be alot for a 20 y/o with no no claims.
We imported it ourself so was half the price of what tegiwa and other importers charge. You are paying for the cult status more than anything.
