- edit, i wanted to do this to a civic i had a few years ago. It turned out that it would cost so much that it wasn't worth the money. i would love to own a k20 engined civic from the 90's though.

Depends what type-r engine you are talking about. B16B is a knightmare into an EG, and a lot of money for not really a lot of gain.
If you're going the B18C route, then it's a lot easier, and a lot more accessible. Integra's and Civic's share the same floorpan and general chassis layout, only difference is the sub frames (as far as i am aware). B18C can be picked up for about 1k, and someone will do a swap, including engine for around 1800. Hond-R are the best, but you get charged for the luxery. You'll easily be looking at 2500+ for a B18 swap from Hond-R, but you will get the best in the industry.
Make sure the car is setup for it though, ie, take more type-r stuff than the engine. ARB, control arms, suspension, struts, brakes if possibles, and make sure you get an LSD, most people say an LSD is their most noticeable gain.
Can of course do the swap yourself, and i can stand here and say that pretty much 1 in 6 maybe, modified Civic's have a B18C in them, and probably over those swaps were done by the owners themselves.
Check Honda-Tech, and google for civic swap forum, as there is a whole forum dedicated to doing swaps like this.

B18c is easy into EG, i did it myself into the EJ2 (EG shape but the coupe version) with wiring in 2 days by myself. It helps to have an engine crane but not essential. yeah i was kinda considering going down the same route.
I have installed a B18c into an EG Sir Jap spec car. straight bolt in needing only top engine mount from the B18c. no wiring involved. I think its worth spending more on the right doner car to avoid issues later on as could prove costly and time consuming.
I then bought a EG esi for a K20 conversion, had the ABS and rear discs, but couldn't be bothered in the end as an EK k20a (jap spec) came up which I bought. When you start to price up the individual parts required its not cheap for a K20 conversion plus the jap spec engine is hard to get hold of.
Haven't had time to get the Ek running as needed some wiring work. Gonna spend some time soon to try and sort out. Planning on firing it up and then selling as dont have the time for it, space and generally lost interest. Tho once it runs that could all easily change!!
