noise in new style CRV

We have one of the new style CRVs. for about 9 months now I keep hearing an irritating noise from behind the dashboard - sounds like some kind of electrical interference sound (high pitched and last anywhere from less than a second to ~3 seconds).
It occurs at seemingly random intervals and I have not been able to pin down what is causing it (i.e. doesn't matter if the Bluetooth phone is on or off, if the SatNav is on or off, same with the radio, the iPod, the CD player, the PC Card, the cruise control, happens when accelerating and braking and cruising, etc).
Getting ready to take it in for its first service but I'm afraid that since I can't pin down what is causing it (and thus can not get it to happen on demand) that the service guys will do nothing about it.
Hoping that someone here will have some idea (or even have had the same problem and figured out how to fix it!)
