Need help with a Civic 5 Door hatch

I recently got myself a 1.5 Civic 5 door hatch. The one that is a sort of hybrid between a civic and a Rover 400.
Im keen to start improving it, however im unsure of which parts to buy. Is the chassis/suspension of honda or rover design?
Is the Civic and the Rover 400 identical under the skin? i.e. would suspension parts for a rover 400 fit straight onto my civic?
Would suspension parts from other models of civic fit onto mine?
