DC5 hits the spot for me.

I'm wondering what a DC5 ITR is like to live with? I've got a Celica ST202 at present but am kind of half way through to saving up for a nice car. Looking at the DC5 it seems to tick all the right boxes for pleasure and purpose. Could you guys advise me of what these K20A'd cars are like to live with as it is an incredibly temping buy once the funds are going to be ready!!!
I've had one for nearly a year now after owning a DC2 for 3 yrs. Never driven an ST202 so can't really compare it with your present car but for me it's been an awesome car. Quite chunky to drive, great handling, lots of grip and the LSD is felt more than it did in the DC2. Great engine but remember it's not a turbo so you won't get the mid surge of forced induction. It is an engine you need to rev to get the best out of as with all vtecs, something that a lot of people don’t like and criticize the car for. Best thing to do is get a test drive tbh mate.
I've had 2002 model as the family hack and occasional trackday chariot for the past 5 years. Mileage is now 86,000. So far there have been no problems. It is a very practical proposition with 4 seats and a big boot. If you put the rear seats down there is huge load carrying space.
It is very entertaining to drive. The handling and grip is 2nd to none, and the engine is very eager. It does need to be revved to get the best out of it. Then it is pretty quick. Economy is nothing to worry about. I average 30-32 mpg. It will do 35 mpg on a motorway run.
Parts are easy to get through Honda. It may take them a couple of days to get hold of them. So far all I've had to replace are one set of discs and 2 sets of pads. It's still on the original clutch. VTEC engines do use a bit of oil, especially if you use the VTEC - ie revs 6000-8500. So do keep the oil topped up. When I replace it, I'll probably go for the JDM Civic Type R.
