My mate in Japan sent me this recently.
This is from Best Car, a Japanese Car magazine that is usually the first Magazine to usually get the word on the latest Japanese models to be release.
The new S2000, the "S3000" is said to be a 4WD and is powered by a V6, 2957cc engine with an estimated 300ps and 31.5kg of torque. The car retains the FR layout.

Something somewhere isn't right, because that profile is rather reminscent of the alleged 'new' NSX that was seen tootling around the 'ring. And Honda wouldn't make two cars that looked similar but sold at vastly different prices...
Oh...and a 4wd Honda sports car?!? Soichiro will be turning in his grave at that...
I REALLY hope all this is just idle speculation aimed at selling magazines...

Fingers crossed and hope that Honda produces a new S/R series to replace the present S2000. Gotta give it to them the S2000 after nine years still looks fresh faced to other car designs.
More power and torque would guarantee Honda to keep their existing portfolio of customers and possibly dominate the market in the price range..
We need to gather round and send Honda a petition of what the people want.
Lets start with: Lightweight 2.7 - 3.0 V6 with 300bhp and a FR layout and a price of sub 30K, anymore would be a bonus..........
Any suggestions ?
Honda the power of Dreams.............................aahhhh........turbo......twin turbo......too much choice..............

I-5 as an alternative? But yes, a small capacity increase over the S2000 will be essential.Any suggestions ?
MUST be n/asp, although I suspect that will be difficult given current emissions regs globally. Wonder if s/charging has the same positive emissions effect as t/charging, and whether they can engineer-out some of the whine?!?
MUST be light-weight compared to competition.
Ideally FR - not as pure as MR but for the average driver like me it's more forgiving and more entertaining. Plus more practical.
Oh...and double-wishbones all round again, fully-adjustable to the driver's desired agility level!
The rumours of an Sk2 replacement used to be that it was going downmarket to compete with the Mx5...
Those magazine renders look great to me! but they look a LOT like the CRZ concept... I can see that being the Mx5 competitor tbh. Which would mean more likely a smaller than or equal to a 2l rather than a 3lv6. It would make a lot of sense if honda were planning the new CRX + a new DelSol on the same platform. The only problem here is that the new convertible must be Rwd for majority of 'enthusiasts' to take it seriosly if competing with the mx5.
Now if this CRZ happened to be a lightweight rwd coupe and shared the underpinnings with this lightweight rwd convertible, that would be something to look forward to. Just don't see it happening though

What about say a short stroke high revving 2.0 V8 say 12k rpm max with Vtec technology (I can hear it now) and two huge lightweight air pumps to blow air thru the exhaust to pass the emmissions.
I hate that bubble coming out of my ear and floating away...
