I am looking to enter the Type R/Performance Honda arena at the end of the year. Have posted questions on the S2k with regards to running costs and which one to go for.
Now a fellow Type R owner has said I should look at the DC5 as it is lots of fun too, very close on performance and both a good handling car.

The question is what would you recommend bearing in mind running cost, overall living with the car and performance/handling.

I know they are very different cars, but I want a car that can do the day to day stuff and make me smile on weekends.

Over to you guys

If you need space and practicality, get the 'teg.

If you want the security of fwd in all weathers, get the 'teg.

If you like pushing a car to the limits down B-roads, get the 'teg.

If you want something that feels special, that in a straight-line is awesome, and that (with care and practice) you can oversteer when there's space, get the S2000.

Regardless of how good a car the DC5 (and the DC2) is, there is something very 'pure' about controlling the attitude of the car via the throttle which even a diff-equipped fwd (and indeed most 4wd) can't replicate. But it's not as easy as blatting a fwd car - I still don't feel 100% confident in mine after 2 years, whereas I will take liberties with the DC2. It's both good and bad - you learn more, but you've more risk (or you drive the car a bit more within it's limits...and the S2000 has very high limits).

I would go for a DC2 over a DC5 any day

At the moment I have a TVR so the rear wheel drive thing is in my blood. But saying that have driven a DC2 and Civic Type R recently and was amazed by the grip and sheer speed of the things. Most say DC5 is a bit more civillized day to day?

Why do these wonderful decisions pose themselves, maybe there is a god after all

S2000 will in concept be similar to your S1. But will be a major step-up in performance (although will need 'driving' to extract said performance) and build quality. That said, it WILL lack a little 'character' vs the TVR,.
