Honda Civic: Type R - Servicing Costs
Discussion
for my services from a main dealer, 1st years was quoted at £167, after a bit of haggling and supplying my own oil i paid £97
2nd years was quoted £280 , after pointing out to them that they did low mileage services and my car was low mileage (12k in 2 yrs) and a bit of haggling and own oil i paid £99
not worth hassle of going to a none francised dealer, my only other costs were a set of front pads at about 14k which i fitted myself. I think they cost about 20quid. 2 new front tyres at 12k too which were about 150 quid for the pair.
reasonable costs for the performance i think about 370 quid in servicing and parts in 2.5years

24k service meant to be a major one... Cost me £240
what did that actually include for 240 notes?I called a couple of local main dealers, one was Ascot and the other Slough. Think Ascot quoted me 300 so definitely pays to shop around.
As mentioned above if you can provide your own oil that will save you some cash. I was to lazy to do that lol.
Spark plugs are long life and don't need changing until something like 40k (guess). 12k service is a minor one which is just an oil and oil filter change. I believe that cost something like 120 - 140.

mine is due a second service soon. will it invalidate my warrenty to get it serviced at a non-honda dealership?
No. Although the non-honda dealer should use genuine Honda parts if required. It may have an effect on a future sale as some buyers like to see FHSH.
Thats cheaper than I expected.
If your buying an older car they also do there fixed price Honda Happiness servicing for older cars, which looks like good value to me.
The place Honda seems to charge alot of money is for repairs and labor (like most manufacturers) so its worth taking the car to an indipendant if something goes wrong. Although being a Honda, it shouldnt go drastically wrong unless your unlucky.
If you need parts there are plenty of places online that will import genunie Honda bits from abroad for much less than UK prices.. but delivery can take a week or more.
