Mk 1 Honda Civic 70s Retro

I have been offered a Mk 1 Honda Civic quite cheap and not sure the owner knows what its worth. I havent had a good look at it yet but i have walked past the car many times, and looks pretty good cosmetically.

Have been a Honda enthusiast for along time, have owned DC2, DC5 and Gen5 Prelude. And always liked the retro Honda stuff, just dont know much about them.

I am looking for any information/model codes, engine sizes, etc and any decent honda website forums. I used to use hondarevolutions but this seems to have gone. Also used retro-rides.com but that seems to have vanished to.

Any information you can give me will be much appreciated.

A very famous designer friend of mine told me that the best car he had ever owned was a Mk 1 Civic.

Wow thats a quick response! I have just had a good look at the car, its P reg think that makes it a '77. No visible rust, need to get a good hunt underneath but i dont want to appear to interested.

Will have a look at hondaevolutions. Need to get the full low down on the model. It has hondamatic on the boot for example.

Rust would be your biggest enemy- if that isn't a problem, go for it!

hondamatic = auto AFAIK

ETA: My mum had an early 80's ('83 iirc) hondamatic Civic wagon. It was an unadulterated POS.
