My integra is 20mm lower all round. The problem is that when you brake heavy the back end tries to come round, as if the back is braking harder than the front?? We have bled the brakes and all fine? It's a non abs model.

Please help as going too the Nurburgring friday, wrong place for a car that wants to swap ends!!!!

Thanks

Geometry problem?

Different (more aggressive) pads at the back?

Is it always the same side that it swings to?

Car drives nice and straight, going to try changing the pads all round. from what I can find out, it seems that there is no brake compensator to adjust braking effort to the rear. Thought maybe someone else has experienced the same problem.

Non ABS you say.

Have a look at where the two solid brake pipes come out of your master cylinder. They should go into a unit that is about 3 inches tall mounted nearby that has a futher 4 solid pipes coming from it.

This is your brake proportioning valve. The bias is pre set and non adjustable. There is no inline reducer like in other cars systems. It is both a splitter and reducer at the same time. I very much doubt this is at fault either (unless blocked). Have you had the tracking done since lowering the car? If not I would look at getting this done first as it may be the answer.

Back to the proportioning valve. You can tell the ratio by looking for a stamp on it. It will be circular and have something like 60/40 on it. Different non ABS Hondas use different ratio versions of this valve, so if you do your homework you can work out which one you need/one that would suit your requirements best, then go hunting at the breakers!!

Good luck getting it sorted.

Sounds like a geo problem.

When you lowered the car did you do anything apart from change the springs/shocks?

On my S I lowered it 30mm on springs. When braking the rear end would go light, the wheels would toe in and it'd want to swap ends.

I got adjustable rear toe arms and steering rack spacers and then went to Chris @ CoG and got a full alignment.

I dialed out the Passive RWS that a lot of Hondas have.

Sounds like you've just lowered the car without thinking what it'll do to your geo.

Hi, thanks for your thoughts, the proportioning valve was something which we were thinking about today, the car was imported from Japan last December, so has been sitting on a boat for a fair while, not sure if this would have a bearing on things. I didn't realise they would have different specs 60/40 etc, I will check mine tomorrow and see what it says, will also put it on some rollers and see what the braking balance front to rear is looking like. The car was already fitted with coilovers when it arrived, so maybe they are set up incorrectly? It is also fitted with a plate diff in place of the standard LSD, and under normal (within speed limits) driving conditions everything feels ok, it's only when the pace hots up a bit that things get hairy!

To be it sounds like the lowering has put it at the edge of standard compression.

So weight transfer will have larger effects on the geo, and the rear toe.

At low speeds mine was fine, but at 100mph it was a bit lively. Under hard acceleration/braking the rear would snake about.

After the geo I can take my hands off at 150mph and brake hard and it just stops in a straight line.

I got mine done at CoG a few weeks before my Nur trip last year and it made a massive difference in safety, speed and enjoyment.
