Hi All,

Had the S2000 for 2 weeks now (found it in the ph classifieds) as I wanted to combine the TVR fun with everyday car reliability as I only do 6k a year. Have to say I'm mightily impressed with it although I do miss the V8 burble!

My question relates to the roof. Due to the plastic screen tearing the last owner retrofitted a newer hood with a glass screen. I'm wondering what if anything other owners use to look after the roof material to keep it supple / waterproof? I have noticed a couple of small (1cm) tears in the corners where it meets the door on both sides. Is this a common occurrence?

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers

On a replacement roof it shouldn't be. I'd suggest joining www.s2ki.co.uk and asking on there...

If it is a retrofit later roof they can tear if not fitted well.
There are numerous treatments that work - just remember it is vinyl though wink

Cheers for th reply, I've joined the owners club and registered on the forum but it doesn't look that user friendly so figured I'd try my luck here to start.

That's one lovely looking supercharger Mikey, very tempting lick

Use 303 Aerospace protectant on the roof. Apply very sparingly with a small sponge.
If you apply too much the excess runs off and streaks the paint and the glass and is a pain to clean off.

You can get it here http://www.thepolishingcompany.com/303productrange... and other places.

the tear does happen. its caused by the frame wearing against the roof whilst it's being raised/lowered. From inside the car, watch where the frame catches on its way up/down.

You can file down the frame to reduce this, but the only rectification now for you is a replacement hood.
