I have been given some good advice and also done a fair bit of research via EVO and other sources. What are peoples interpretations of various tyres available. What are people running, and what should i avoid.... I am enquiring about an EP3 CTR. I know there is lots of advice in these forums but cars do tend to work tyres in diffrent ways, tred block flex how quickly fronts and rears get up to temp etc etc...

I have a set in mind and it would be good to see if anyone threw them in the mix.....

The best tyres to retain the handling are the OEM Bridgestones. I know these don't have the best compound for grip in wet and greasy conditions, but they have the best construction for the Civic.

I tried quite a few different tyres on mine over 125,000 miles. The Goodyear Eagles were awful on the car, in that they had too soft a construction, ruining the handling. The car would 'float' momentarily before direction changes, for example. THe compound was better for greasy grip, but that wasn't enough of a trade off.

A good compromise I found was the Pirelli P Zero Rosso. Sidewall stiffness was not quite up to the Bridgestones, but not far off, and the compound was better than the Bridgestones in cold greasy conditions.


Having said that, I always ended up returning the the RE040s.

Did you ever try the Yokohama Parada Spec 2 tyre, 10 Pence Short?

I personally found these to be a better tyre than than the Bridgestone. The sidewalls were only a knat's whisker less stiff than those on the Potenzas, but performed far better in the wet. Comparable ultimate grip in the dry. The biggest improvement I found was in the tramlining. Horrible on Bridgestones, less marked on the Yokohamas.
