Can some one explain Integras to me?
Discussion
right here goes,
dc2 is the integra type r from 1995-2000
ek9 is civic type r from 1997-2000
dc5 is integra type r from 2001-present
ep3 is civic type r from 2001-2007
the integra's with the quad headlights are offical type r imports into the uk and the ones with the square headlights are unoffical imports into the uk, ie. integra type r's for the japanese market. these are better specked cars than offical imports slightly more bhp and you get all the bells and whistles attached, momo steering wheel, pedals, gear knob, carbon dash incerts red recaros sometimes black though and very rare are yellow and red recaros on dc2's.
hope this helps!!!!
buy one you'll love it, just find an empty long tunnel drop the windows and gun it in 2nd, VTEC at its most glorious

The later UK Integras (the ones with 4 little circular lights) did have a MOMO steering wheel, carbon style inserts and the white cars have red Recaro seats. There were a small number of black and red cars produced for the UK which, if I remember rightly, had black Recaro seats.
The Japanese cars (with the square headlights) have slightly more power (about 10bhp more) but are designed to run on the higher RON fuel they have in Japan, so I'd imagine they're not actually that up on power at all.

cool, think i'll be looking at a DC2 then. What are the fundamental JDM / UK differences with the cars? Is it really just cosmetic & ignition map + front bumper & lights or are there mechanical engine differences?
I've an Accord VTEC-S at present as my daily driver and was thinking of an Integra Type R as its replacement as the accord is the best handling front drive car i've ever driven and knowing people rave about the integra it must be good.
I do prefer the quad headlight look but thats all that would tempt me to go uk car, is the insurance much higher for JDM?

thats pretty much it there mechanically the same car except the lenghty of one part of the exhaust system is differant on the uk spec cars but thats only important if ur changing the system or fitting a de-cat, so you would need to specify which incarnation you have either jap or uk spec
First post, but some of the bits missed.
DC2 Integras, japanese spec from 1996-1998, 4 stud 15" wheels, ~189bhp on 100RON fuel IIRC, Square lights.
1998 on, 16" 5 stud wheels, ~195bhp on 100RON fuel (due to better manifold) IIRC.
1998 on is the best to go for and easy to spot by the wheels.
Carl.

Having just bought a uk car with 87k on the clock, Im slowly getting to know the car.
I do have to say that Ive been gentle with it until tomorrow when the cam belt gets changed....
However, its a car that feels like an occasion to drive, even if its a sub £5k ten year old version like mine.
Even on (soon to be changed) odd tyres with iffy pressures, the chassis is right up for it......and as for the engine..........
Revs, revs and more revs. With abit of torque for round town work too.
Couple that with the knowing look that true drivers give you, I cannot think of a cheap car that currently is such good value.
Enjoying it so far.
This may all change when Honda tell me the occasional ABS light on will need £0000's to fix.....

They dont go wrong much, but when they do bloody hell the parts are pricey!Abs light is dodgy sensor.May only be dirty, new cost is £223 plus vat
But then Honda Happiness means a cambelt fiited is ony £200, a new genuine rear silnecr £125 all up.
Heads you win........

Aspen - the DC2 has a reasonably high roof compared to the seat, but I'd still avoid it - 6'4" or so would manage, I think you'd struggle. DC5 might be slightly better in that regard as they deliberately raised the roofline when they realised how many people were taking ITRs on track and wearing lids inside them...
Ben - DB-something (DB4 IIRC) is the 4-door. I'd expect it to have a marginally stiffer structure but also marginally more weight and higher c-o-g. Not sure if the suspension is identical or not though, but they're rare as anything, even in Japan...

Beath this...one pair of S2000 front discs £294+vat!
How about £ 3320 for a Big Service and I provided most of the parts!!!Hondas are great cars, but they get you back on the parts/labour and no Honda Hapiness for NSX or S2000!
What did you get for £3300?
(I've got another one, new soft top £1717)

Ah ok, hadn't realised they were that rare - currently 5 listed on Trademe (NZ's ebay type site), only one that hasn't been molested though:http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Hond...
(Completely off-topic) D'oh - just twigged you're in NZ!
We're holidaying down your way in September - if it's OK, can I e-mail you to find out a bit more about the place, including whether there'll be any Jet-boat racing while we're there - seen it on cable TV over here and it looks so much fun...
