1.Been done to death every where, but despite trying countless forum search buttons I am unable to find any common ground...but...

What tyres for ITR DC2 with a bit of track bias ? RE010'S seem to be getting a bit scarce now.

2.A few links to H style goodie shops.Google doesnt really come up with anything of any worth in regard to parts and accessories for this model.

TIA

Try itr-dc2.com

A few retailers are on there, and recommendations for more. There are lots of goodies for the car, albeit many of them in the US or Japan...

My advice:-
- RE010's are about the best for stock rims. BlackCircles had 9 the other day, worth calling them (although their price isn't the cheapest).
- I've now bedded-in a set of Ferodo DS2500s, which unless you're doing serious track work as as much brakes as you'll ever need. Dixon on the forum sells AP Dixcel disks and pads which seem to have a good rep - various levels of bite right up to competition-level.
- Another chap on there does group-buys for rear strut-braces - got mine, just need to fit it now.

...beyond that the best mods are probably geometry and driver-training (if you need it...). Although if you want you can get pretty much anything and everything for the car from one place or another...

Oh...and if it's a leggy car then worth getting the bushes and dampers done...by all accounts it'll transform the handling! But it'll also transform your bank balance... frown

I've just got myself some 16" Hankook RS2's from Rare Rims. They were well recommended on the ITR DC2 forum, and they look nearly identical to the Yokohama Advan Neova AD07's that are currently on my car. I would habe gone with the Advans because from what I can gather they are the grippiest thing out there, but they are Japan only tyres, and the Hankooks are mean't to be as near as you can get to the Yoko's performance. And the price wasn't bad either!

As Havoc above said - Look on itr-dc2.com as loads of traders on there who are very good and honest - they will make recommendations specific to you rather than simply what makes them the most profit. Search for posts by ProRacer and Rarerims as they'll give a lot of advice about what you'll need. The tyre issue seems very subjective but the Hankooks seem well liked as well as Yokos.

Online stuff try http://www.vtecdirect.com/ as barry is on the forums and is a genuine enthusiast.

Unless you've got a very good brake set-up that enables you to stay out on-track for long periods, or adjustable suspension, the RE010's cope pretty well. I did about 4 or 5 trackdays in 'teg #1, and that was in a stock car except for Mintex 1144 pads. Worst that happened to the tyres was a small-moderate amount of 'melting and running' across the outer 1/3, esp. on the n/s tyres! They were always road-legal afterwards (except for when I ran an old set down to about 0.5mm!), put it that way.

The serious guys running aggressive brakes and coilovers tended to use slicks or track-day special tyres though...but there you'd want a baffled sump too...

Martin, I truly bow to your superior knowledge here.Agree on 1144s, had them in the Fury and rated them, will be a must have on the ITR I think.

[ot]Are you coming on the ph shoot on the 16th ?[/]

Not had chance to check yet, but are Yoko AD07'S available in for the stock Teg wheel sizes ?

Driven many an Elise on road and track fitted with them and really like them.

hehe Oh, you're in big trouble there then! wink

Re: Shooting - assuming that's the RBSS one (seems a long time coming around), then no - I don't consider myself good enough for it to be worthwhile at the moment Mark. I should really get more practice in on more 'normal' shoots, but life seems to keep getting in the way, IYSWIM.

Yoko's...hmmm...there IS a tyre with 7 in the title which I've seen referred to positively on itr-dc2.com, but I can't recall what.

Do a search for that tyre on the forum, see if you get any hits. Oh, but if it's going to work with the 'teg it's got to have stiff sidewalls - one disadvantage of 15"s is the height-of-tyre - you lose quite a bit of precision with softer sidewalls...really doesn't suit the car.

I run DS2500's on the S2k. Great for fast road use and stand up fairly well on track. Dont last long though. I've just ordered replacements for mine after 8000miles and 1 track day...)

I think the tyre that havoc refers to is the Yokohama Advan Neova AD07

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Y...

My car came with these on, but I need to replace two now, and they are apparantly Japan only tyres (although I think you can get ones in the UK for the Elise/Exige). That was the reason I went for the Hankook RS2, as apart from the recommendations from those on the ITR forum, they look pretty similar, tread etc is virtually the same, so they are the nearest match to the AD07's (in a 16" tyre).

Furyous, you'll probably see me about in a white '98 JDM ITR, what's yours?

Cheers havoc, I'm loving the car at the moment, had heard good things about them, and they all appear to be true. This one has Ohlins coilovers fitted, plus a plate diff instead of the standard LSD, makes it handle incredibly, can't wait to get it to the ring next month!
