Discussion
Brand of oil is practically immaterial, so long as it conforms to the API/ACEA spec required.
For what it's worth, I advocate and use exclusively Liqui Moly, and just recently did a full fluid change - oil/filter/gear/brake using their products, including gearprotect additive.
By Christ, has it made a difference! Smooth slick gear changes, with no more syncro issues, which would cause the gears to grind often whilst going from 1-2 unless the clutch was pushed through the floor! And forget about redline shifts from 1st to 2nd - crunch time if you didn't let the revs drop enough.
Still to do that on this, but wish I'd done it back in Oct. 06 when the 75K was done, inc. trans flush.
Suffice it to say, you'll be happy you changed to something other than the 'norm'.
Should also add, the car sounds much quieter now, and that's with the full synth oil used this time round, as well as the Pro-Line Engine Flush prior to the oil being changed on Saturday morning.
The online advisor shows both a 10-40, and 5-30 being suitable (Super Leichtlauf 10w-40, and Leichtlauf Special 5w-30, which is what I used before going for the Synthoil High Tech 5w-40).
Contact LMT Ltd., and ask Mark which garage in your area uses the products. I think you'd be fine to go with the Synthoil as well, bearing in mind my '03 Accord is now sitting at 95K, and I'll be flushing and Synth'ing it from now on.
